Medal winner
She got up and finished her rountine, but then had to go to beam. Savannah HATES beam. She has alway hated beam. But for some unknown reason, she shined on beam that day. She stayed on, pointed her toes, and showed it off.
Then it happened. They called her name, and it took a good 2-3 seconds for it to register that it was her, she placed on beam of all things. Not 1st but she was just as happy with 7th place. This is a big step since she moved to Level 6 in January, and had a short amount of time to learn the routines, and elements.
Way to go sis!!

Savannah turns 11
She had her friends over for a sleepover and skating party this past weekend. They had a blast, lots of bruised knees, but thankfully no major injuries.

Then after gymnastics practice last night we let her open the presents from us. Late at night, but none the less a great time. She loved her "happy skull" bikini that we got her, and her iHome for her iPod.

Tonight we go to dinner with Grandma/Grandpa "fish", Uncles Shawn, and Kris an adpoted aunt to the Mongolian Grill.

Bouillon de Culture....per Karen
These 10 questions originally came from a French series, "Bouillon de Culture" hosted by Bernard Pivot. It is probably more familiar to many as the question James Lipton asks at the end of "Inside the Actor's Studio."
I've found these questions interesting among friends. It's amazing what the simple answers to these questions reveal about a person's thoughts, feelings and beliefs.
01. What is your favorite word? Shopping
02. What is your least favorite word? Good-bye
03. What turns you on creatively, spiritually or emotionally? Scrapbooking
04. What turns you off? Lies/backstabbing
05. What is your favorite curse word? Jackass
06. What sound or noise do you love? The ocean
07. What sound or noise do you hate? Screaming
08. What profession other than your own would you like to attempt? Private investigator
09. What profession would you not like to do? Grabage person
10. If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates?
Glad you could make it, your going to enjoy it here!
Please feel free to post on your blog and leave me a link or you can post your answers in the "Comments" section

First concert and first concussion.......what a combo!!
BUT then it happened. Confirmed 2 tickets in the 10th row! YAA HOO!!
So this past Thursday the family left for Portland, no they were not all going with me, Savannah has a meet at 8 flippin AM, on Friday morning, the morning of the concert, just 12 hours later.
Now the kicker is that Aaron said I could get tickets, spend the night in Portland, just as long as he did NOT have to go. So we get up Friday morning at 5:30am, get ready for the meet, go to the meet, then my friend Amanda drives up to Portland in Aaron's car, we switch kids around, Aaron, Dominick, and Scarlett go home. Savannah gets dropped of at her friends house in Portland to spend the weekend, and all is good.
Amanda and I shop, drink, eat, and drink some more, we drive to the Rose Arena early to pick up our tickets so we don't have to wait in the line at will call, and this is what we see......
Now we are really excited, so we go have dinner, drink some more (not the smartest idea, I figured out afterwards), hail a taxi and go to the concert. IT WAS GREAT!!! Opening was newcomer Jason Aldean
Then came RASCALL FLATTS.........

It was a great concert, they sang for almost 2 hours, non stop. Then we got to hail a cab in the rain back to the hotel. This is where the night begins to fall apart........I NEVER leave anywhere without my phone, but I left it in the hotel for some dumb reason. When we get back there are numerous missed calls, mostly from the mom of the friend that Savannah is staying with. And by now it is almost midnight, but I call anyways. Evidently Savannah was doing something and her arm gave away, and she fell back and hit her head quite hard on the ground. Now good thing that Deana is a nurse, or I might of lost it right then, but she said she did a neuro check on her (especially after she started to throw up) and she did have a concussion, but thought that she would be OK. But Savannah wanted to go home, so she finally got a hold of Aaron, met him 1/2 way and they should be back at home shortly. OK, tears flow,......here I left her, no phone to contact me, have had enough drinks there was no way I was driving to get her.......WOO HOO I win the trophy for 2007 mom of the year!
All in all she was OK, heck of a headache the next 2 days, and I am sure if she did not have long hair she would have a bruise to boot. But next time I will be taking my phone!!
oh ya, and an unmentional number of Rum and Dt. Cokes leads to a very bad headache and queasy tummy in the morning.....I dont recommend it! :)

Pass out or The Choking game WARNING!!
These are girls, ages 10 - 15, most are 4.0 students, that work out 4-5 days a week, 4 hours a day. They are smart girls, but they made a bad decision, one that effected the whole gym, one that effected me. It scares me, it was too close to home. Our family had a long talk about the "game" and the concquences of it. Please do the same with your children, NOW, before its too late, then give them a big hug and make sure they know how much you love them!
Read below for more info about it..........
"For many of the nation's middle-school kids, it is an open secret: choking yourself or having a friend do it for you, passing out and reviving — waiting for that euphoric 10 second high as oxygen rushes back to the brain.
Boys and girls alike seem to be playing this asphyxiation game. The most common ages range for kids playing this is between 9 and 14, middle school age and early high school age kids. It is also called blackout, funky chicken, space monkey, flat liner, tingling and suffocation roulette.
Whatever they call it, kids are gambling on cheating death.
They choke themselves with belts, ropes, ties, their own bare hands, or even a bicycle chain lock, to deprive their brains of oxygen and get a drug-like high.
Apparently there are two parts to the experience. First, the high is when there’s light-headedness due to reduced blood flow and therefore a reduced flow of oxygen to the brain. The second part, the rush, comes with the removal of pressure on the chest or neck with releases a powerful surge of dammed up blood through the carotid arteries into the brain.
Kids do it to one another or to themselves. It is particularly deadly when they do it alone because there is no one there to be sure they come out of the pass out phase. Some develop brain damage and others die. This is something the kids do not seem to be talking about openly and often the deaths, when they occur, are misdiagnosed as suicides.
One expert in Atlanta says more and more kids seem to be doing this and good kids are doing it too. Some do it because of peer pressure, of course, and most do it for the quick, 5 to 10 second euphoria it creates. Apparently the quest for this high may be addictive."

Our weekend.......
So what did we do..........we debated about going to Legends for dinner and a little gambling afterwardes, but decided we did not feel like driving that far, so we talked about a movie with dinner, but finally decided that we have been running 24/7 latley so we went to Applebees for dinner, and rented 2 movies and stayed home for the night. It was great! I cant remember the last time we watched 2 movies in one night, or watched them without the kids wanting something, or fighting.
All in all it was a great night!

Valentine's Day 2007
1st- Woke up to 2 dozen tulips and an I Love You balloon from Aaron and the kids.
2nd- Emma (one of my daycare girls) gave me a cute little school type valentine that says, "Miss Patty plays with the kids, gets drinks & lunch & going to sleep" that is what she told her mom to write on it. How cute!!
3rd- Savannah made me a wonderful card and gave it to me when she got up this morning, she really does love me, even though we but heads a lot!
4th- My dearest friend Mandy brought me Hot Chocolate from Starbucks on her way to work.
5th- When I went to open the door (when Mandy came over) there was a gift on my porch. It was from my childhood great friend Sonja. It was a bottle of wine, and a wonderful note.
I am blessed to have such great friends and family in my life!! It's the little things that matter!
PS: Dominick I am sure made me something, but I am not allowed in one his drawers of his dresser, but usually he remembers it a week or two after the holiday :) Silly boy, I better get him trained right before some girl gets her heart broke by him and his forgetfulness.

Change.....
So I need to make a decision. Do I look for more children, or do I decide to go back to work. Doing neither is no an option unless we would like to live in our Tahoe, but I just cant decide. I have not worked for anyone else in 12+ years. I am not sure that my kids are really old enough to stay home alone (even though it would just be for 1 hour most days). I am not sure that I want to do daycare anymore either though. I really just want to crawl in bed and go to sleep, and not worry about it. Strange this is that Aaron is usually the worrier, and he is sure that all will be fine, and it will work out for the best. Me on the other hand, has cryed so much I am sure I look like something that the cat dragged in.
I really am leaning to going back to work, I am tired of my house being constantly dirty, toys on the floor, my food bill $1000+ a month, my utilities sky high since we are home all day, etc.
BUT what about the dog, she is used to us being home, she is an inside dog.
There are too many variables, my brain hurts. Life will go on, change will happen. The future is certain to be uncertain.

Playing nurse.....
Aaron is doing good, still taking pain meds, walking with the help of crutches, though Dr. Shannon says no more as of today. Sleeping lots, so much I am beginning to think he is a bear in hibernation. :) He has watched tons of movies, including all Texas Chain Saw ones......yuck is all I have to say. I hope he feels better to go back to work soon, as he is laying on my clothes folding area (our bed) and laundry is backingup something terrible!

Aaron's knee Part II
1 day prone, no activity, 1 week off work (that might kill me since I work from home), and 4 weeks on crutches. It should be a wonderfully happy month around here :) At least by soccer season he will be fine to coach, DR even said so!
Wish him luck!!
